Each room has a mood, and fragrance can support it. Here's a simple room-by-room guide we share with customers furnishing a new home.
Entrance
First impressions: something welcoming and clean. Mogra or a soft floral says "come in". A brass urli with floating candles makes the entrance feel festive.
Living room
Warm, sociable fragrances work best: oud and amber for evenings, vanilla chai for lazy afternoons, rose and saffron for celebrations.
Kitchen
Fresh and herbal to cut through cooking smells: lemongrass, citrus, basil, mint. Avoid heavy sweet scents that compete with food.
Bedroom
Calming and soft: lavender, sandalwood, chamomile. Light an hour before sleep and blow out before you drift off.
Bathroom
Spa-fresh: eucalyptus and mint. Small tins are perfect here.
Study or home office
Clear and focused: lemongrass, rosemary, peppermint. Where flames aren't ideal, use a reed diffuser.
Puja room
Sandalwood, mogra and gentle incense — fragrances with a sense of the sacred, like our Sandalwood Temple Candle.
A note on layering
Use related fragrances in connected rooms — florals in the bedroom and a lighter floral in the hallway — so the house smells harmonious rather than like six different shops.
