Buying Candles from India: A Guide for International Buyers
For importers, retailers and families abroad: shipping, customs, packaging, payments and timelines when ordering from India.
Avnika Creations द्वारा

India has a deep tradition of fragrance — from Kannauj attars to temple sandalwood — and handmade candles from India are increasingly popular with boutiques, hotels and families worldwide. Here's what international buyers should know.
Start with samples
Order a sample box to test fragrance, finish and packaging. Fragrance perception varies by climate and culture, so test where you'll sell.
Minimums
Wholesale and private-label orders typically start at 50–100 pieces per design. Mixed cartons are possible for first orders.
Packaging for export
Glass is wrapped individually and separated in double-walled cartons. For hot routes we add insulation and avoid long stopovers.
Shipping options
- Express courier: 5–10 days, ideal for samples and small orders.
- Economy/air cargo: for larger shipments.
- Sea freight: for very large, regular orders.
Customs and duties
Import duties and taxes are paid by the buyer in most countries. We provide commercial invoices, packing lists and HS codes.
Payment
International payments are made by SWIFT bank transfer; details come with your order or quotation. See worldwide shipping and become a stockist.
