- North-east (ishan kona) — the most auspicious direction for worship.
- The puja room.
- Near the main entrance, facing into the home.
Which way should Ganesha face?
Commonly, the idol faces into the house or towards the north or east. At the entrance, many place one idol facing inwards.
Places to avoid
- Bathrooms or walls shared with bathrooms.
- Under staircases.
- Bedrooms (traditionally).
Materials and size
