12 Beautiful Ways to Reuse Your Candle Jar

We choose vessels you'll want to keep: ivory glass, amber jars, metallic tumblers and tins. When the candle is done, here's how to clean it and what to do next.

How to clean a finished jar

  1. Freeze it. Put the jar in the freezer for a few hours. The wax shrinks and pops out with a butter knife.
  2. Or use hot water. Pour boiling water into the jar (glass only), let the wax float to the top, cool, and lift it off.
  3. Remove the wick tab with a knife, then wash in warm soapy water. Peel labels after soaking.

Twelve ideas

  1. Succulent planter — add pebbles for drainage.
  2. Make-up brush holder on a dressing table.
  3. Cotton pads and buds in the bathroom.
  4. Tealight holder — drop in a scented tealight.
  5. Spice or dry-fruit jar (food-safe glass only, cleaned thoroughly).
  6. Pen stand on your work desk.
  7. Bud vase for a single rose or a sprig of mogra.
  8. Jewellery dish for rings and studs.
  9. Matchstick keeper beside your next candle.
  10. Puja room holder for incense sticks or cotton wicks.
  11. Craft storage for buttons, threads and clips.
  12. Refill — bring it back for a refill on bulk orders.

Choosing a candle partly for its vessel isn't vanity — it's sustainability. Browse our perfumed candles and pick a jar you'll love twice.
