Selling Candles at Your Café or Boutique Counter
Candles are one of the easiest retail add-ons. How to choose a range, price it, display it and keep it selling.
By Avnika Creations

Candles are a natural impulse buy: beautiful, giftable and easy to understand. For cafés, boutiques and concept stores they can be a steady, high-margin add-on.
Start small
Begin with four to six fragrances across families: one floral, one fresh, one woody, one gourmand. Add seasonal candles for Diwali and Christmas.
Pricing
Retailers typically mark up wholesale prices by 1.8–2.5×. Make sure your price sits comfortably within what your customers spend on gifts.
Display
- Keep an unlidded tester of each fragrance — people buy what they smell.
- Group by mood, not by size.
- Light one candle (safely) near the counter.
- Add a small card with the notes and burn time.
Your own label?
Cafés often sell a candle in their signature scent under their own brand — see private label.
